I am happy to announce that we received a grant from the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies (www.pi.lu.se) to carry out a so-called Theme on the subject Democratic Challenges in an AI-Mediated Society. The theme is coordinated by Prof. Hanna Bäck at the Department of Political Science at LU with me as a co-coordinator.
The goal of the Theme is to bring together an interdisciplinary group of researchers to formulate new research questions in the intersection of mathematical modeling/political science/experimental research. We will address the problem of affective polarization and how it is possibly amplified in our algorithmically mediated society.
The Theme will run during the academic year 26/27. Apart from Prof. Bäck and myself, it involves Melvyn B. Davies, Erik Wengström, Richard Pates, Robert Klemmensen at LU, and Alexander J. Stewart at Indiana University.
